1 historic building... 1 twenty meter drop... 1 rope...and you
Whether you are a thrill seeking adrenaline junkie, want to see Bassingbourn from a unique angle, or just looking to raise money, this event is for you.
Join us on Saturday 7th September and be one of just 90 people including the Bishop of Ely and other special guests abseiling 20m down the historic Bassingbourn Church Tower to:
Raise money for the Church Development Project
If you want to Take on the Tower, registration is just £50 (Early Bird rate of £45 for registration fees received by the 15th June) and we ask that you raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship for the Church Development Project.
Anyone weighing between 6 stone/38Kg and 17 stone/108Kg can take part in our event. Anyone under 18 on the day must complete a parental permission form (download below).
Why are we doing this? People are currently excluded from worship and the congregation is thwarted in its attempts to provide outreach services to those on the edge of society whom the statutory services do not reach.
Our church is cold, comfortless and hazardous. Help us transform it into a welcoming, flexible, and fully equipped facility fit for worship, mission and community use by:
Making the building fit for church and community use.
Keeping the building in daily use and preserving our heritage for future generations.
Enhancing the beauty of the interior.
So enabling us to put our Christian faith into action by providing:
Clubs for children and young people.
Activities for isolated groups and individuals.
Safety and accessibility for those with disabilities.
A large scale venue available to groups and individuals.
