Church Annual Review 2019
As we find out activities restricted at the moment it is a great time to remember the amount we normally do in our service and worship to God. You can do this by reading through the 2019 Annual Review. This is normally given out at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) in April but as we are not meeting until the Autumn we want you to have it now. You can read it at this link or click on the image. If you are on the Church Electoral Roll then we will also be sending you a link to the Annual Report which is the more formal document that we are required to produce. If you would rather have a printed copy please let the Church Office know. (added 22nd May)
Congratulations to Steve!
We are absolutely delighted to tell you that Steve Renwick has been formally accepted by the Diocese of Ely for training as a Lay Pioneer Minister. Pioneer Ministry is about seeking God's Will, and responding creatively to the Spirit's prompting, with those outside of church. Although based in a parish, pioneers are encouraged to work wherever opportunities arise. Steve's two years of training will start in September and is a big undertaking for him. Do encourage and congratulate him but above all please pray for him and Michelle. Amanda (added 7th May)
Thy Kingdom Come 2020
Thy Kingdom Come 2020:
TKC is approaching fast and there will be more information next week, but what I have learnt this week is that you can download this helpful daily Prayer Journal. Paper copies can be delivered to anyone without computer access by requesting this via the Church Office. Alternatively you can call 0800 804 8044 to hear a daily reflection with prayers and hymns/songs and an encouraging Word from Justin Welby. Families with children at home can have fun and games with the Family Prayer Adventure Map which we have available - just let us know if you want one. I do trust we can use one of the above, to aid Prayers in the fashion we find most helpful. Mandy (edited 7th May)
We have three home groups which are meeting regularly for fellowship, bible study and prayer. These currently met on: Monday evenings, Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday evening. If you are interested in joining a group the please get in touch.
If there is enough interest we can start a new group. Tim & Margaret (edited 1st May)
Do you need help or know anyone who does?
You will probably know that there is a group of Bassingbourn volunteers that are able help with things like getting urgent supplies, posting mail, animal care or just calling for a chat. You may not know that this team is headed by our very own Claire Ives (Star!) so there will be a friendly face at the end of the email address and phone line (except when someone else is covering for her). The dedicated phone number and email are 074896 084509 and email@example.com. There is a leaflet with more information here. Nick (added 3rd April)
A message on Church giving
In these tough times, we appreciate that some of us will be feeling the pinch and may need to review downwards your financial giving to the church, and if you do, please know that you have our prayers of support and gratitude for all you have given.
If you can keep up your giving however, please, please do so! Our church still has high fixed costs (about £54,300 per year) that need paying, and our variable income just from the collection plate and messy church last year came to £6,500.
So, if you pay by standing order – thank you very much! But if you pay cash to the church, please do consider setting up a standing order instead; I’m very happy to help you with this simple process if you wish (07762 089851). You can also give directly by card using Golden Giving, just click on the Golden Giving logo. If these can’t work for you, please put a “collection plate” jar aside in your house, and put into it whatever you would have given the church, and when we come out of the other side of this and church reopens, please bring that jar into church as your gift to God.
We will get through this, we will still be a church family, and we will still have a church. But please help as you can to keep us financially above water any way you can. Thank you. Jay (added 27th March)
