The Bassingbourn Scarecrow Festival!

'Guarding the pumpkin patch'

If you don't know what the Bassingbourn Scarecrow Festival is about, read on! It's a great chance for the whole village to have some fun and come together as a community.

Sadly no Scarecrow Festival is running in 2009 - watch this space for 2010 though!

It's really simple:

  • make a scarecrow before the event
  • let us know, and then wait for people to visit and look at your creation
  • everyone can go round the village to look at people's handiwork
  • with the stellar standard of entries, there will be prizes for the best
  • the winners will be announced and rewarded in due course

We've had some amazing displays every year, from wedding parties to horse races, from mechanics fixing minibuses to mechanical men, so let this be your chance to get your imagination run wild. Or if you're not the scarecrow-making-kind, at least have a nice walk round the village to be amazed by what some of your neighbours get up to.

The 2008 Scarecrow Festival was part of the Village Harvest Weekend, and was held on 20 September 2008.
